Article added on December 17th 2009: from Mega Miniatures GODS Limited Editions: Time Line 2003-2004 This series was entirely sculpted by Sandra Garrity. It was a promotional tool designed to increase sales at my first and now defunct website DiscountHobby(DOT-COM). There I sold miniatures by dozens of other companies and for the purchase of $25 or more you would get a FREE GODS figure. Each figure was only up for 60 days and then retired with molds being destroyed. Figures painted by Roger O'Dell and the number to the RIGHT of each part number are the quantity given away. Even though the theme of the line was based on famous beings real or fictional, the final look of the figure was to cater to the Fantasy RPG player and not be historically accurate. Article added on December 16th 2009: from Mega Miniatures Draggles: Night Knight Time Line 2001-2003 Sculpted by Sandra Garrity based on Artwork by Chas Gillen, this large paper weight sized miniature was cast for a limited time and then discontinued with molds being destroyed. This was the first new piece produced by Mega Miniatures previously known as Dark Ages Miniatures. Originally released as a limited edition of 1,000 only 238 were sold and molds destroyed. Item DAL-001 Draggles Knight Night stands 60mm tall and weighed in at a pound of Tin. Draggles is copyright 2001 Discount Hobby, Inc. all rights reserved.
Article added on December 15th 2009: from Mega Miniatures Traveller Licensed: Time Line 2005-2008 I licensed the rights from Mark Miller to produce a line of TRAVELLER science fiction ships and aliens. The line was cancelled after three short years due to lack of support by the fans. I was really interested in licensing properties from comic and game companies during this period but all would prove disastrous. It seems most of my licensed lines were doomed to failure, hence my reason for not doing anymore licensed projects after 2008.
From LEFT TO RIGHT: First row MEM-75001 Beowulf, MEM-75002 Scout Courier, MEM-75003 Pinnace all sculpted by Berhle Hubboch. These ships are now available from www.adastragames.com
Second Row MEM-75101 Droyne, MEM-005 Vargr (Limited to 200 packs) Third Row MEM-006 (Limited to 200 packs) Newts, MEM-007 K'Kree (Limited to 200 packs) We did not sell out of MEM-006 or MEM-007 with remaining quantities melted down and molds destroyed. Aliens were all sculpted by Faron Betchley. Figures painted by Roger O'Dell.
Article added on June 1st 2009: from Mega Miniatures First Three Print Catalogs: Time Line 1999-2004 In 1999 a year after we had launched our online store stocked full of miniatures by dozens of manufacturers we published a 288 page print catalog "Fantasy Miniature Collector". This catalog contained over 3,000 images of figures the problem was companies were changing codes, being bought out, shutting down making the catalog obsolete. With the market changing we purchased the molds and rights to several companies and began manufacturing in late 2001. Dark Ages Miniatures was formed and primarily produced re-castings of classic figures. By 2004 the Mega Miniatures brand was created due to the confusion between our line of figures "Dark Ages Miniatures" and another company "Dark Ages Games". The first Mega Miniatures catalog in 2004 was a tool that helped us break into the wholesale marketplace. Cover art was by Mike Komarck and depicted many of Bob Olleys figures. We had just signed a deal with Bob to distribute and cast his figures in the USA. The same year we began publishing FREE PDF catalogs of our figures. These electronic catalogs were so successful that it killed off the prospects of ever developing anymore print catalogs.
Article added on May 27th 2009: from Mega Miniatures Giants: Time Line 2005-2007 Cliff Linton was a sculptor for Grenadier miniatures. He introduced himself to me back around 2002 after purchasing several miniatures from my old online store the defunct DiscountHobby(DOT-COM). Soon afterwards he was sculpting various pieces for Mega Miniatures including these four Giants. Originally they were to be a series of 13 different but with metal prices souring and WOC release of pre-painted plastic giants the line soon lost steam. Molds destroyed and masters shipped to Cliff as he had sculpted them on a royalty basis. From left to right they are MEM-10019 Lost Giant, MEM-10020 Ghost Giant, MEM-10021 Female Egyptian Giant and MEM-10022 Noble Giant. Most stood 60mm or taller. Figure images painted by Roger O'Dell. These sold for around $9.99 new slot base design.
Article added on May 27th 2009: from Mega Miniatures Usagi Yojimbo: Time Line 2003-2004 I approached Stan Sakai back in 2003 and licensed the rights to do a line of 30mm or HEROIC SCALE Usagi Yojimbo miniatures. The miniatures industry was exploding at the time thanks to the internet and cottage industry casting. Seems every sculptor known and unknown could not find the time to sculpt for me. So I hired many sculptors so that the Usagi figures would come out in a timely fashion. Each figure sold for $5 each and initially orders were very strong but distributors did not want to stock them in their warehouses permanently. This was before I launched the Mega Miniatures Brand name (Usagi sold under Dark Ages Miniatures Imprint) Molds have been destroyed and no production rights are available. Figure images painted by Roger O'Dell. Cast directly on a 20mm square metal base.
UYM-001 Usagi Yojimbo (William Watt) UYM-002 Gen (William Watt) UYM-003 Katsuichi (Cliff Linton) UYM-004 Jei (Steve Lortz) UYM-005 Scared Peasant (Steve Lortz) UYM-006 Inazuma (Bob Murch) UYM-007 Jotaro (Steve Lortz) UYM-008 Mogura (Steve Lortz) UYM-009 Necko Ninja (William Watt) UYM-010 Inazuma (Berhle Hubboch) UYM-011 Tomoe Ame (Sandra Garrity) UYM-012 Kitsune (William Watt) UYM-013 Usagi Yojimbo new pose (Jason Weibe) UYM-A Kitsune Limited Edition (Brady Bugge)
Article added on May 27th 2009: from Mega Miniatures FUN Figures: Time Line 2006-2008 I was working on a line of figures that were comical. The line was called Fun Figures and the card stock was designed but was never printed. Tthe first miniature for the line did come out. MEM-002 Dead Soul $3.99 and was a limited edition of 500 copies (maybe 100 to 200 cast before discontinued). Eventually a deal was struck with www.Paizo.com publishing in 2006 as a Limited Edition figure for their website and mine. Sculpted by Hermann Grassnick, painted image by Roger O'Dell. There were many ideas including a large pile of dung to be titled DRAGONS POOP. The metal fertilizer would be 25mm tall and filled with human bones.
